I tried pilates at the suggestion of a fellow avid runner because of hip problems I was having. I tried rolfing, acupuncture, and massage and still had trouble sleeping and running due to hip pain. The first few times I tried pilates I couldn't believe that I had no lateral hip strength because I always considered myself pretty strong. It took about 6 months before I could do the lateral hip exercises, and another 6 months before I could do them at regular strength. Now, 18 months later, I can challenge myself at higher levels, and more importantly, I don't wake up at night with hip and leg pain. My running is stronger and I have been injury free since starting at the Concrete Lotus. Adding yoga to the mix has humbled me but the improved strength I've found in a short time is encouraging. I truly think that working out at the Concrete Lotus saved my running - and has earned me some compliments for my arms which, at my age, is an ego-boost.

Now with the addition of circuit and spin classes, there's options for how I want to get my booty kicked! Most of all, I love all the girls that work there and have met so many great girls in the classes. I budget my workouts like a car payment... It's mandatory, but secretly really fun too."

In December of 2009 I got up my courage to go to a lunch-time Pilates class with a co-worker and was quickly amazed at the skill and dedication of Annie and Erin, lovingly referred to as "The Lotus Ladies". I needed courage to show up because I was totally out of shape and had started a weight-loss program but knew I had to do some type of fun exercise. Despite being far from a healthy specimen, Annie and Erin kept telling me I could do it and slowly I began to believe their words. Today I am glad to say that I have lost 60 pounds and can do things in Pilates class that I never would have dreamed possible. It never seems to get any easier but I think that is one of the things I like about it. I can definitely say that no class is ever exactly like the last one and I love that part – no boring routine EVER! I am proof that consistent classes at least several times per week can make a difference. I even go to spin class now. Try it – I think you'll be 100% satisfied with the personal approach and especially with the results!

I can't say enough good things about The Concrete Lotus. I've been a regular client for almost 2 years now, and in the course of that time I have lost almost 30 pounds, and gained noticeable strength an confidence. Pilates at The Concrete Lotus is truly one of the best full-body workouts I have ever experienced, and the option of spin classes really helps bump up my cardio routine. The increased core strength that I have gained has really improved my running, mountain biking, hiking, and skiing. And that's not to mention the fun, comfortable environment that The Concrete Lotus offers! Thanks ladies for whipping me into shape and continuing to challenge me! I always leave the studio feeling worked over and with a smile on my face.

After doing Pilates consistently for two years, I have taken over a minute and a half of my mile time!! My mile pace was consistently over nine minutes....now, I am running 8:20-8:50 splits during my long runs!! I attribute the increase in speed to Pilates....to how much stronger I have become through regular Pilates practice!! The Concrete Lotus instructors do an amazing job of working various muscle groups and pushing their students to become stronger athletes!

I started classes as a pilates newbie, once a week 5 months ago. Very challenging classes for someone who was out of shape, but not impossible. The instructors are very friendly and personable, and they get to know you so you can be challenged effectively; asking you what your strengths are, what areas you'd like to work on, what your goal is- losing weight, getting in shape, training for a marathon, or maintaining an already achieved goal.
I came to The Concrete Lotus to help me reach a goal of losing 50 pounds and getting in shape, something I haven't been since high school in the 90's. Since going to Concrete Lotus I've lost amost 20 pounds and gained definition in my arms, become more lean in the legs, neck and face, I've even gone down 1 bra size, and my clothes fit better. The 8 week challenge has shown me what I'm capable of, and I look forward to every class I take. At first I was working on just trying to maintain the exercises, and now I'm evolving into working on form and muscle engagement, and I have the ladies at The Concrete Lotus to thank for that!
The price packages are better than reasonable, the studio is clean and friendly and inviting, the instructors take an invested interest in your health and well being, you become involved in a tight community of support. It's a great place to get in shape for 55 minutes out of your day!

I think it's been three years, maybe more, since I started working out with you guys and it's been amazing! Not only did you guys help me lose 15 pounds, but you are great friends too! I love coming to class because I always laugh and leave in a much better mood than when I came! And if people think pilates is easy, then they have not come to the Concrete Lotus! I leave there shaky half the time even though I've been going for so long. Thanks for all that you do and I look forward to working it with you ladies forever!!

I have been working out with the wonderful ladies at The Concrete Lotus for 9 months. I have to say I have never been in better shape in my life! I had tried other workouts and gyms before coming here and I never really saw a difference. I can finally say I have abs and huge guns! Erin, Annie, and Abigail will not let you fail. They make sure your form is correct and make you feel comfortable when you are first learning. They truly want to see you succeed and they push you to your max. Erin is the queen of circuit classes. She always has new exercises and keeps you interested in the class and keeps your muscles guessing. Annie is the best counter I have ever known! She counts out our reps and pushes us through the tough last few. She makes you feel like a winner. Abigail is the spin master. I have done things on a bike I never imagined possible, from weight lifting to sit ups. Her classes are high energy and exciting. Regardless of what class I take I always leave with more energy than I came in with and a smile on my face. I love working out at The Concrete Lotus. The ladies who run the joint and the others I sweat with are my workout family and I wouldn't trade them for anything. I love this place!
